Winter Fuel Allowance is an annual payment granted to eligible Britons, to provide much-needed support towards heating bills during the winter months. As the temperature drops, many of us pop the heating on without a second thought. But for millions of Britons, this can be an expense they cannot readily afford.

Winter Fuel Allowance is a Government-run scheme which gives a payment to eligible Britons to help towards the extra costs of heating.

The extra cost of heating can soon add up during the winter, and so several schemes have been set up to ensure no one goes cold.

Often these schemes include grants towards heating bills and are based on a claimants age, circumstances and location.

And with more and more of the UK working from home due to the pandemic, household bills have gone up in recent months.
