Deontay Wilder is eager to return to the ring soon as he looks to put a difficult 2020 behind him.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ lost his long-held WBC title to fierce rival Tyson Fury last February in a thrilling rematch in Las Vegas.

Fury put on a career-best performance to destroy Wilder and claim his belt.

Wilder has wanted a third clash with the ‘Gypsy King’ and the chance at avenging that shock defeat.

But the difficulties surrounding the COVID-19 lockdown and the politics of boxing has meant no agreement has been reached and Fury is now looking elsewhere.

Wilder has stated he will take legal action to secure a trilogy fight but that is beginning to look unlikely and the 35-year-old American may have to make other plans.

Will Deontay Wilder fight Tyson Fury again?

Wilder has said recently that he has ‘been ready [to fight] since September’ as he strives to face Fury again.

But the Alabama-native believes Fury isn’t a ‘man of his word’.

He said: “You can see me back in the ring sometime in the first week of January, the latest early February and we’re looking through opponents now.

“We’re not going to sit around and wait on a coward that has an obligation to fulfil but ran away from it.

“We’re not going to sit around, we’ve got to get back in the ring. I’ve got a lot of fans looking forward to me stepping back into the ring and doing what I do best.

“I’ve been ready since September. You’re not a man of your word, you’re not fulfilling your obligation.

“I helped you out, I put millions in your pocket, I made you relevant, now it’s time for you to do the same thing, that’s all we’re saying.

“They sat around, it was their obligation to put the fight on. They waited all the way till October came, then talking about we abandoned the contract. That’s a lie!”

Who else could Deontay Wilder face next?

Wilder has confirmed that he still hopes to fight Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr in the remaining years of his career.

He said: “You know, the ones at the top who I haven’t fought, haven’t got my hands on, that’s what I want.

“I know that’s kinda lame a little bit, to not name a name, but anyone I ain’t faced at the top, I’m talking about you.”

When asked if Joshua and Ruiz Jr are top targets, Wilder responded: “Yeah.

“Any fighter that’s at the top that people haven’t seen me fight and people strongly want to see me fight, that’s who I want to fight.

“I can sit here and name names all day, that’s the easy part.

“I’m just gonna go to the top, if it’s someone I ain’t fought, that’s who I want to fight.

“I want to clean the division out. People think I’m gone or I’ve stopped boxing. I haven’t.”
