Watch the sickening moment Tyron Woodley’s rib ‘POPPED OUT’ during defeat to Colby Covington as X-ray confirms fracture
Tyron Woodley could well be out of action for some time after confirming he broke his rib during a lopsided defeat to Colby Covington.
The ‘Chosen One’ was beaten convincingly for every moment of Saturday night’s five round fight at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
But it was a shame to see the former champion in such discomfort at the end of the shellacking.
Covington was cruising to a unanimous points decision victory at the start of the fifth, when he found himself in a standing guillotine attempt from Woodley.
The 38-year-old desperately tried to maintain the position as the fight hit the deck, but then suddenly shrieked out in pain as he yelped ‘I’ve hurt my rib!’
Speaking to Ariel Helwani after the bout, Woodley confirmed he had broken a rib during the defeat.
In fact, it popped out during the fight and then as he tried to stand up, he sustained the injury.
Woodley told ESPN it was ‘the most pain ever’, although suffering defeat in such a manner will have surely got to a man once considered the greatest welterweight champion ever.
The veteran has not won a single ROUND since September 2018 when he defeated Darren Till via submission in Houston to retain his belt.
Since then, he has been dominated by Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns and now stopped by ‘Chaos’.
