UFC star Dominick Reyes knocked out by Jiri Prochazka with sickening spinning back elbow and then lands on his head as Dustin Poirier tweets support
Dominick Reyes suffered sickening knockout at UFC Vegas 25 on Saturday night as Jiri Prochazka landed a spinning back elbow in the second round.
Prochazka was in just his second UFC fight when he made a statement to the whole light heavyweight division with a brutal KO of the former title challenger.
Reyes’ last two fights had been for the light heavyweight title losing to Jon Jones and then Jan Blachowicz.
A third straight loss in a little over a year is a devastating blow for the 31-year-old.
The knockout was a nasty one too with Prochazka landing a spinning back elbow, just the third time in UFC history that move has won the fight.
It was the way Reyes hit the octagon floor that was the greater cause for concern, though.
The UFC fighter was out cold and landed straight on his head as referee Herb Dean stepped in to call and end to the bout.
In his post-fight interview, an elated Prochazka said: “I just flow.
“After some counterpunches from Dominick, I can have no chance to think for some plans.
“I just was in the flow. [I thought], ‘After that, maybe spinning elbow. OK, let’s try it.’”
After the fight, UFC star Dustin Poirier tweeted: “Hopefully Reyes is ok. That was brutal. It’s a tough dangerous sport but damn I love it.”
