UFC fighter Ike Villanueva left with sickening hole in his FACE by Jordan Wright
Jordan Wright kept his unbeaten record intact on Saturday night at the UFC Apex courtesy of a crushing victory over Ike Villanueva.
Although it took just 91 seconds, the finish came after a brutal knee landed during a clinch and left Villanueva with a hole in his face which proceeded to gush blood.
Having already taken a spinning wheel kick to the face, the damage was evident when referee Jason Herzog called a halt to the action to let the doctor examine the cut.
As the blood cascaded out of his face and down onto the mat, it became clear ‘Hurricane’ was unable to continue.
The 36-year-old, who boasts a record of 16-11, was also defeated in his UFC debut back in May against Chase Sherman and found himself on the wrong end of a late replacement switch.
Wright, who competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, caught the eye with his performance and impressed considering he had to fight at the unusual weight of 205lbs.
However, the unbeaten American will be hoping to make a real impact at middleweight in the not-so distant future.
“I’m a master of all ranges,” Wright said about his dominant showing in his UFC debut. “Whether it was out in the open or in the clinch, I knew that I had him.”
