Nigel Farage praises Donald Trump as POTUS leaves hospital – ‘Better than ever!’ | World | News

The president, who tested positive for coronavirus last week, was seen in the back of his presidential car yesterday on a brief trip. Mr Farage tweeted: “No other Western leader would go and visit the crowds outside their hospital like this.”

Mr Farage added: “He will be back better than ever.”

The tweet sparked a flood of responses in support of the US president.

One user said: “He’s going to win big league. He’s a true hardworking patriotic man.

The people’s champ, he never gives in and loves what he doing and loves America.”

However, the stunt has proved contentious for others. A doctor who works at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland where the president is being treated, called the stunt “completely unnecessary.”

Dr James Phillips of the Walter Reed hospital claimed staff had been “commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk.”

He added the presidential SUV is “not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack,” and so “the risk of COVID-19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures.”

The Presidential Motorcade is a convoy of reinforced vehicles engineered specifically to transport the president around the world.

Mr Trump himself rides in a car known as The Beast. The doors are known to form an airtight seal which provides protection against a chemical attack.

The windows of the car are also not allowed to open – with the exception of the drivers’ – and are five layers thick.

There is also a glass partition to separate Mr Trump and those in the front seats of the car – though it is not clear whether or not this was up during the president’s ‘drive-by’.

Meanwhile, US news outlets are suggesting the president knew he had coronavirus well before he announced it on Twitter.

ABC News has cited ‘multiple sources’ who claimed Mr Trump had already tested positive from a rapid test before a more thorough one was conducted to confirm it.

The outlet also alleges the rapid test confirmation had come before Mr Trump appeared on a Fox News show with host Sean Hannity on Thursday.

In a video published late last night by the president, Mr Trump said his illness “has been a very interesting journey – I learned a lot about COVID-19.”

The president’s positive case comes amid a White House outbreak – at least seven others who attended an event there last week have tested positive.
