Mike Tyson offers explanation for groggy Good Morning Britain interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid which left fans concerned
Mike Tyson has explained why he seemed out of sorts during his interview on Good Morning Britain earlier today.
The former world heavyweight champion spoke to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on the ITV programme to promote his upcoming fight with Roy Jones Jr, but fans were left concerned by his groggy appearance.
Morgan and Reid looked somewhat uncomfortable during the interview as a series of intense pauses followed each question.
At one point, Tyson even closed his eyes and appeared to drop his head while the hosts quizzed him on his comeback.
It turns out Tyson, 54, was struggling due to the time difference between Los Angeles and London, as the interview was conducted at nearly 11pm US time.
He wrote on Twitter: “I tried to stay up late for interview but fell asleep and like a lion I’m hard to wake once asleep.
“Training hard and going to bed early. I had no monitor so I couldn’t see you guys and forgot to look into camera.”
Indeed, Tyson has been working extremely hard and appears to be in phenomenal shape for his upcoming exhibition bout with Jones Jr.
The two boxing icons are scheduled to square off on November 28 in an eight-round fight at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
In a recent video posted on Instagram, Tyson showed his incredible ripped physique despite being in his 50s.
“What do you have to be in order to be brave? You have to be afraid to be brave,” said Tyson on his Instagram account.
“That’s what makes people say you’re brave because they know you’re afraid and now you’re facing something that is unnatural to be. But you control your fear and you face it.”
