Matchroom Sport chairman Barry Hearn reveals positive COVID-19 test just days after son Eddie
Barry Hearn has tested positive for COVID-19, just days after son Eddie was struck down by the lethal virus.
The 72-year-old, who runs Matchroom Sport, has started a period of self-isolation in accordance with UK government guidelines after catching coronavirus.
A spokesperson said: “Barry feels well and is not displaying any symptoms. Additional staff and family members have also been tested and all found negative.”
Eddie Hearn left the Fight Camp bubble last week in order to protect the fighters for the Matchroom Boxing card in Milton Keynes on Sunday.
In April, Barry Hearn suffered a heart attack and underwent an emergency op in Essex.
Unlike Barry, Eddie is believed to be suffering with flu-like symptoms.
On Thursday he tweeted: “Gutted to just find out I tested positive for Covid-19 today and have to leave the bubble immediately.
“Thankfully all other tests were negative. Heading home to rest – catch up tomorrow.”
