Leeds United mull over move for Manchester United star Daniel James one and half years after failed Elland Road transfer
Leeds United could sign Manchester United winger Daniel James – a year and a half after they failed to land him.
The Whites are still looking for Premier League additions, despite their exciting start to the campaign, and they are mulling over the possibility of moving for the 22-year-old.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa has seen his side lose 4-3 to Liverpool and then beat Fulham by the same scoreline but he’s still keen on attacking additions.
And with James dropping down the pecking order at Old Trafford, Leeds could revive their interest in the fleet-footed Welsh ace.
He netted three Premier League goals last season, appearing 34 times, but he’s been usurped by Mason Greenwood already, while manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is clearly looking to sign another winger.
The idea of landing Gareth Bale was looked into, while Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho has been wanted all summer long, with a £108million deal still a possibility.
And if another winger does come in to compete with him then, according to the Daily Star, Leeds will then attempt to swoop for James.
Any deal would most likely be a loan with an option to buy next summer.
If it did happen it would be an extraordinary return to Elland Road for the youngster who all-but signed for Leeds from Swansea City back in January 2019.
A £10m transfer fell through at the final moments on transfer deadline day and as the Whites missed out on promotion even Bielsa admitted James might have made a difference.
Leeds did, though, earn promotion as Championship title winnners last season and are now making a big impact in the top tier.
