Everton missed the chance to leapfrog Liverpool into sixth place as they lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Ollie Watkins put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his 20th goal of the season just six minutes later.

Villa wasted a handful of chances to retake the lead as the game looked to be petering out for a draw.

However, Anwar El Ghazi curled home a superb 20-yard effort in the 80th minute.

The result leaves Everton in eighth place, while Aston Villa climb to ninth.
