Eddie Hearn hits back at Tyson Fury and says ‘he don’t know what he’s doing’, insists Anthony Joshua fight can’t happen in December
Eddie Hearn has dismissed Tyson Fury’s latest comments on talkSPORT, insisting the WBC heavyweight champion is spouting ‘hot air’ and ‘don’t know what he’s doing’.
The promoter joined Jim White on talkSPORT on Friday morning after testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
The virus had no audible affect on Hearn though, who responded strongly after Fury’s remarks 24 hours prior.
Fury told talkSPORT: “I’m supposed to be boxing on December 19 in Las Vegas against Deontay Wilder in the trilogy, but every two days I hear a different story; they’re trying to bring it forward a week or put it back a week, whatever…
“Tell AJ to grow a pair and let’s step up in December and fight!
“Let’s get this big AJ fight on, let’s get it on… If Wilder don’t happen, let’s fight in December and give the fans what they want to see.”
After being played the comments, Hearn told talkSPORT: “Listen, you always hear a lot of hot air from Tyson.
“He’s a fantastic talker, he knows that we have an agreement to fight Kubrat Pulev in December.
“That’s why he’s coming out now saying, ‘Yeah, fight me in December.’
“He don’t wanna fight in December because we know, the world we live in, we can’t even do that fight in December.
“But it sounds good.
“He definitely believes he’s gonna win the fight and we definitely believe we’re gonna win the fight.
“But when you look at Tyson Fury’s résumé he’s had two fantastic wins – Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko.
“I don’t know how long he’s been a pro, but it’s 10, 12, 13 years, however long it is?
“AJ’s been a pro since 2013 and already his résumé is Dillian Whyte, Wladimir Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin, Joseph Parker, Andy Ruiz, Carlos Takam.
“He’s still a relative baby but his résumé is fantastic and he’s continuously proved that he will fight the best.”
Hearn continued: “He knows that we have an agreement to fight Pulev next and he has an agreement to fight Wilder next.
“So anything he says about, ‘Yeah, make the fight now for December,’ is all hot air.”
When it was put to him that Wilder may not face Fury next, Hearn replied: “That’s his problem, we’ve got an agreement to fight Pulev. His problem is his problem, they don’t know what they’re doing.
“We’re fighting on December 12 against Pulev, he don’t know what he’s doing.
“They’re walking around every day, they have no plan of what they’re doing.
“I don’t see this fight happening behind closed doors, you’re gonna be leaving hundreds of millions of dollars on the floor.
“But, as I said to Bob Arum the other day, we will sign this contract now to fight Tyson Fury.
“Two fights in 2021, it’s an absolute must.”
