Eddie Hearn gives promising Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua update, believes Fury WON’T fight Deontay Wilder next
Eddie Hearn has given a positive update on progress being made towards a Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight in 2021.
The pair have already agreed financial terms to meet next year, though there a number of other hurdles that need to be overcome before the bout is truly a done deal.
Regardless, Hearn is in talks with Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum and seems to be making great strides.
He said in an interview on Matchroom’s own YouTube channel on Friday: “I spoke to Bob Arum.
“We’ve been having some deep conversations about that fight all week.
“And actually, me and Bob are ready to move forward and close that fight now.”
Before Joshua can fight Fury, he must first get through his IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev – likely on December 12.
The ‘Gypsy King’ meanwhile is contractually obligated for a trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, though Hearn doubts this will materialise.
He said: “I don’t know if he’ll fight Wilder, I think Fury will go and do his WWE thing [against Drew McIntyre] later this year.
“We’ll deal with Kubrat Pulev, but we’ll sign the fight now. Me and Bob are working towards making that happen.”
