Driver Luca Corberi facing lifetime ban for throwing broken bumper at rival DURING RACE and then attacking him in ‘disgusting’ tantrum
Driver Luca Corberi is facing a lifetime ban from racing following some shocking scenes at the FIA Karting World Championships.
After crashing out of Sunday’s race at the Lonato circuit, the 23-year-old Italian threw his broken bumper at driver Paolo Ippolito, who was driving at high speed, in a ferocious tantrum.
The dangerous stunt could have resulted in disaster for numerous drivers, but incredibly nobody was injured.
Corberi, who clearly felt Ippolito had done him wrong, was later seen confronting his rival driver in the pits, having crossed the track while the race was still ongoing.
The culprit’s father actually owns the circuit and he was also seen getting involved in the melee before officials had to break things up.
There are now calls for both Corberi and his father to face lifetime bans for their behaviour.
Former F1 champion Jenson Button said: “Luca Corberi has just destroyed any chance he had at a racing career after his disgusting behaviour today at the FIA Karting World champs.
“His father owns the circuit and is seen power driving the guy into a wall, life ban for both of these idiots please.”
