Detroit Lions linebacker Jamie Collins EJECTED for headbutting official during NFL opener with Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions linebacker Jamie Collins was thrown out of their season opener against the Chicago Bears when he made contact with an official with his helmet.
Collins, who signed a three-year $30million contract with the Lions in the off-season, was ejected with 12:24 left in the second quarter while the score was tied 3-3.
The 30-year-old appeared to take issue with Bears running back David Montgomery for lowering his head on the previous play.
Collins was demonstrating to the official what happened and ended up headbutting the official in the chest.
The official immediately threw a flag and Collins was removed from the rest of the game.
It was a game to forget in the end for Matt Patricia’s Lions as they came up short against the Bears at Ford Field.

On the final drive of the game, Lions rookie running back D’Andre Swift dropped a game-winning touchdown pass in the final few seconds to make the afternoon go from bad to worse.
