Cheyenne Hanson compared to UFC star Joanna Jedrzejczyk after sickening head injury results in huge swelling
Cheyenne Hanson has showed off the devastating end result of her clash of heads with Ukraine’s Alina Zaitseva which caused the bout to end prematurely.
The German still managed the fight on a technical decision after the accidental head clash, which resulted in a giant hematoma during the contest for the vacant BDB International German super featherweight title in Gersthofen.
The 23-year-old sustained multiple head butts during the bout, with the referee warning Zaitseva about the use of her head before doctors stepped in and confirmed Hanson could not continue safely.
“WE DID IT!!! BDB INTERNATIONAL GERMAN CHAMPION! It was a tough fight,” the newly-crowned Hanson wrote on Instagram after the bout, along with a picture of the horrendous swelling.
The fighter known as ‘Pepper’ later shared a ‘before and after’ image, making her gruesome injuries even more evident.
Hanson, whose profile lists her achievements as a European kickboxing champion, improved her boxing record to seven wins and just one defeat, while her 21-year-old foe suffered a sixth defeat in seven contests.
For UFC fans, it will certainly bring back memories of the epic bout between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 248 last year.
The Polish challenger was left looking rather grotesque after sustained damage from the strawweight champion and managed to get through the fight after taking an insane amount of punishment.
However, once the fight had finished and the swelling continued, she too was left with a sickening injury like Hanson.
