Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro wishes son a happy birthday and thanks him for being by ‘my side’ after brutal hand accident
CAKE Boss’ Buddy Valastro has shared a touching tribute to his eldest son on his 16th birthday.
The 43-year-old baker took to Instagram to mark Buddy Jr’s special day as he posed alongside his son for a sweet family snap.
In the shot, Buddy is seen affectionately wrapping his arm around the 16-year-old.
The pair are both wearing Cake Boss printed clothing.
In another, Buddy Jr. posed for a shot in their family home whilst tucking into pasta.
Alongside the photographs, father Buddy shared: “Happy 16th to my son @buddyvalastrojr.
“It feels like yesterday you were born! Watching you grow and become the young man you’re shaping up to be has been some of the greatest moments of our lives.
“I’m especially grateful for your quick wit and compassion in being there by my side during the accident. I owe you one 😉 .
“Happy Birthday Bud! We LOVE you and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you! @lisavalastro4.”
Fans rushed to comment on the post, with one writing: “Time flies… I remember him 5 year old boy in the first episodes of Cake Boss.”
A second said: “HDB Buddy Jr. I wish you the best on this day, I hope you have a great sweet sixteen @buddyvalastrojr_ @buddyvalastrojr_.”
Another added: “OMG, I remember him like a little boy in Cake Boss. The time is running so fast!”
Buddy’s birthday message comes days after the TV chef was hospitalized after a metal rod impaled his hand.
He revealed the injury with a photo of himself in the hospital on Instagram, explaining that a machine in the family’s bowling alley impaled his hand.
Buddy explained his sons had helped him through the accident during an emotional chat on TODAY.
Breaking down in tears on the show, the TLC star said: “I thought I was going to faint, I looked at my hand and there was blood everywhere and I was stuck, the rod going back and forth because the machine goes back and forth.
“Something told me to stay calm. My whole family worked together, my son Buddy, my son Marco, and within five minutes they were able to take the bolt out, cut me off the machine, and I was actually in my driveway before the ambulance even got there.”
The New Jersey native revealed that the bowling alley’s machine often got stuck, but he’d always been able to fix it in the past.
